IEEE R3-MEETING Central NC Report for August 2011 region 3 Meeting
 
 
Member Engagement Activities:

EDS/MTT/SSC Joint Society Chapter has held fairly regular lecture meetings.
These meetings typically involve speakers from the Distinguished Lecturer
program. We normally have a good turnout, especially among students. Chapter
meetings have been conducted with help from NC A&T Student Branch.
 
 
Section Activities:

We have held quarterly ExCom meetings to keep all officers informed and
involved. These meetings include the Section, the EDS/MTT/SSC Joint Society
Chapter and the Computer Society. Most ExCom members attended NC Council
training in January. Some members have participated in various initiatives
linking industry and local schools.
 
 
Barriers:

We have a core group of people who get involved and keep the Section and
Chapters alive, but most members are not responsive. Workloads make it hard
for people to volunteer and come to meetings.
