It is with great sadness I report the passing of the present IEEE Secretary
Roger Pollard who died on 3 December 2011. Additional information is available
(at present) on the main page of the https://www.ieee.org. IEEE President Kam
has written a nice note which outlines Roger's rich contributions to IEEE.

Director Stogner and I proposed a tool for assisting Region and Section
leaders in sending personalized e-mail as part of the MGA R1-6 initiative. The
activity includes choosing the tool(s), forwarding servers, and preparing
documentation and training. We are funded to work on this in 2011 and time is
getting short. Anyone who is interested in this should contact me. We
anticipate buying the software licenses this year and distributing them to the
sections and 2012 ExCom members.

Let me congratulate Director Stogner and the 2011 ExCom on the successes and
thank them for setting the stage for 2012-3. Lee is a candidate for 2014
IEEE-USA president, is a member of the conference team for the 2012 Electric
Vehicle Conference, part of the IEEE SmartGrid team, and has also promised to
stay active in key areas in Region 3 so we will benefit from his experience
and energies for years to come. Thanks Lee!

I hope all is going well with you and your IEEE activities. I am very
interested in hearing about your challenges and successes in your IEEE
activities. Please be sure to submit a year-end report for your committee or
Section.

Goals for 2011:

* Work on a planning effort for Region 3 to encompass Sections Congress, MGA,
 Region 3 and its sections (done for 2011)
* Visit at least four Area/Councils (fell short - travel to Area 6 Huntsville,
 and Area 4 Orlando)
* Actively participate on Region 3 Committee, the ExCom, and Region 3
 Committees as appropriate and required (done)
* In support of and in coordination with Director Stogner and the 2011 Region
 3 Goals and Objectives, enable and encourage Region 3 committees to be
 effective in fulfilling their charter. (work on MGA/R3 project still being
 worked)

As an action report for 2011 since my last report, I have

* Participated on MGA vTools Committee
* Participated in several activities associated with being a Past Secretary,
 Past Treasurer, and member of several IEEE Committees including
 IEEE FinCom, IEEE Governance, and IEEE IT Strategy Committee
* Participated in IEEE Board Series including Director-Elect Training by
 MGA/TA, IEEE FinCom, IEEE-USA, MGA, IEEE Board of Directors, and
 service as Past Secretary
* Prepared and executed a planning session for 2012-13
