PACE Committee Report to Region 3 Committee Jan 23, 2012 Objectives: * Have two or more Sections hold a Professional Development Seminar or a Student Professional Awareness event (S PAC, S PAVe, S PAW) in 2012 * Have two additional Sections start formal preparation for PDS/SPAC events to be held in 1st half of 2013 (these events require 4 to 6 months to plan and implement) * Train and mentor newly appointed PACE Chairs * Maximize Section/Council PACE Chair participation in IEEE-USA Annual Meeting and PACE training Section Chairs are requested to send me their 2012 PACE Chair name and contact information as soon as possible. PACE Chairs are encouraged to attend the PACE meetings at the IEEE-USA meeting in Cincinnati, OH, 3-6 May 2012; this is an ideal opportunity for new PACE Chairs to learn about the PACE network and for seasoned PACE Chairs to learn about new resources. Procedures for requesting travel expense subsidies and subsidy amounts available will be communicated to PACE Chairs (Section Chairs when PACE Chair has not been appointed and identified) in February. Section/Council PACE Chairs are encouraged to hold a Student Professional Awareness Conference (S-PAC)in 2012. There is still time to plan and hold an S-PAC before the end of the Spring semester. An S-PAC held at the beginning of the school year is a great way to get students involved in the IEEE and the Student Branch at their school; such events should be planned with returning students and current Branch officers before the end of the Spring semester. S-PACs are an excellent way to build Section:Branch relationships and promote higher grade member contact with students and paves the way for graduating students to become actively involves in Section activities. PACE Project funding is available to support M/S PACs. Section and council PACE Chairs are requested to report on planned Engineer's Week activities and other PACE related plans for 2012. Action item for all PACE Chairs and Section/Council/Chapter/Branch Chairs: Review the PACE Handbook (Revised April 2011), see link below.
