IEEE R3 Area 2 North Carolina Council Report for 16 March 2012 In 2012, North Carolina Council has been actively engaging the leadership and members throughout North Carolina. Several highlights of our activity include: 1. On February 4, 2012, NC Council sponsored a council meeting and leadership training session for 17 attendees, including the NC Council officers and Chairs of the five sections in North Carolina. 2. The NC Council website was updated to the new IEEE format: https://ewh.ieee.org/r3/ncc/ 3. The new website is being used as a vehicle to engage members statewide by publicizing events within sections that may be of particular interest to members throughout the state. Occasional e-notices alert members to new events. 4. Forrest Suter has been appointed as our new Area 2 Student Representative for the Region 3 Student Activities Committee. 5. Our Treasurer, Jim Corr, reports that the North Carolina Council L50 was approved on 2/22/12. 6. Ongoing efforts include engaging membership by strengthening ties across the state, communicating appropriate events statewide, and exploring new events of interest to members statewide. Finally, I would like to thank our NC Council Officers, Grayson Randall, Valentina Cecchi, and Jim Corr, our Section Chairs Nate Quirk, Tom Jepsen, Brian Kowald, Bill Williams, and Ibraheem Kateeb, and all of our NC leadership and volunteers for their generous contribution of their time, effort, and talent. We look forward to a productive NC Council and Region 3 meeting at SoutheastCon 2012. Submitted by Thomas Weldon, IEEE NC Council Chair, 2012.
