Hampton Roads Section Report for SEC2012 The Section continues to experience 20+ attendance at Technical meetings. Active PES Chapter, first Technical meeting is 15 March 2012- will report verbally on results at Region 3 Meeting. Petitioning to Form a Computer Society Chapter. Have identified two prospects to chair a Life Affinity Group. More participative with Student Branches and planning schedules around University schedules. Member engagement: 2nd annual Picnic in April free to all members and on a weekend before finals, so all five Student Branches can participate. Planning two more Senior Member Grade elevation events, and one Senior member social. Have ordered Section Shirts opening preorder to members. Section is evaluating ways to give the web page a face lift in the course of updating information on the page. Planning an awards Banquet in November and a Section ExCom Holiday party for the volunteers and significant others. The Photonic Society Chapter moves into Probation with the retirement of Long standing Chair Amin Dharamsi. Requires 6 minimum IEEE/Photonics members in good standing to continue; Section currently has only one individual in good standing. Several chair positions are still vacant for the Section. No PACE, MD, or Outreach activities to report. Currently do not have an active delegate outside the Section Chair in support of the Virginia Council. Will survey membership for deeper understanding of member activity interests and needs. Hampton Roads ExCom members who participated in the Monday March 12 preparatory telecom found the foundation information very helpful. No other items to report at this time.
