Section Support Coordinator Report for ExCom Meeting, 25 February 2013 From Jan 28 - 30 I was traveling to support the NW Florida Section and the Mobile Section. Activities follow: 1. Met with NW Florida Section Excom and discussed section operations. Apparently, there is not a student branch at UWF at this time. I did not get to any students or faculty, though I requested to do so in advance. 2. At the section meeting on Jan 28 I provided a PACE program that was very well received by everyone. My short program in Career Strategies. Approximately 20 in attendance. 3. On Jan 29 I met with the Student Branch Chair and Vice Chair at Univ of South Alabama. They were unfamiliar with SPACs and that there was funding available to bring speakers. We discussed some simple ways to organize one and they seemed committed to doing an SPAC soon. 4. Met with section leadership of the Mobile Section. The new chair seems committed to keeping an active schedule for section meetings. They do not have much money at this point, but the main expense seems to be pizza and soda for the students. 5. I provided a PACE program for the section meeting that night, ~30 in attendance - mostly students. I think there might have been one person from industry. Other activities: 6. I did a PACE program for the Jacksonville Section Feb 4 ( 25 attendees). 7. Keynote speaker for Daytona Section E-Week banquet Feb 21 (~40 attendees). Discussed the IEEE Humanitarian Technology Challenge and my trips to Nicaragua and Kenya. I also met with the Student Branch officers and counselor. They were unfamiliar with SPACs and we discussed how they could do one very simply. I am planning follow up communications with all groups.
