Mississippi Section Report to
IEEE Region 3 Committee, April 2013

Most Fun activity:

This year the Mississippi section has added the "Lunch and Learn" meetings to
our monthly schedule. On the 4th Wednesday of the month at a meeting room of a
local restaurant a one hour program is presented while a meal is shared.

Most successful activity/program:

Mississippi section presented the 3rd annual Professional Development Day
hosted by Jackson State University last May. This included 6 speakers on a
variety of technical and professional y relevant subjects. This activity is
our best supported meeting in our section and plans are underway to hold our
4th annual meeting next month.

The Power and Energy Society is entering it's first full year after a great
start. It reports good attendance to monthly programs presented on the 2nd
Wednesday of each month.

Section activities focused outward:

Mississippi Section continues financial support for the three student chapters
within our area and invites participation by student branch members in all
section meetings.

Barriers:

We are hoping to be laying the ground work for more participation by members.
The challenge is to promote these activities and possibly add more to increase
activity within the section.
