IEEE Mobile Section Report, April 2013 Since October 2012, the Mobile Section held a total of 15 technical, professional and administrative meetings. Most Fun Recent Activity: Participation of Section members in the Engineering Week activities at the University of South Alabama. Most Successful Recent Activity: Mobile Section of IEEE was dormant for a long time. It was decided to rejuvenate the Section activities in September 2012. Since then a total of 7 technical meetings and 8 professional/administrative meetings were held. The most successful recent activity was a technical meeting on Cranking up Research and Economic Development attended by about 100 members from the section and Mobile area. Member Engagement Activities: Mobile Section of IEEE provides many opportunities for member engagement. Section members participated in several STEM activities, such as the BestRobotics, Engaging the Youth in Engineering (EYE), Engineering week as well as Achieving the Challenge to Excel (ACE) program intended to bring minority students in engineering. Section Activities Focused Outward: Section members actively participated in several STEM-focused activities such as the BestRobotics and Engaging the Youth in Engineering (EYE) activities. Barriers: The biggest challenge is to find volunteers from local industry. Issues Requiring Action by the Region 3 ExCom or Committee: No issues at this time.
