To: Region 3 ExCom Fr: Pat Donohoe, Region 3 Student Activities Chair Cc: Region 3 Committee Sb: Region 3 Student Activities Chair Report Dt: 3 March 2014 The Region 3 Student Activities Committee has been working diligently in preparation for the the Student Conference at SoutheastCon 2014 in Lexington, KY. This year, student branches were required to register for the student competitions prior to the conference. Based on the student competition registrations, we anticipate that approximately 50 student branches will attend SoutheastCon 2014. The current breakdown for student branch participation in the various competitions is shown below. Hardware Competition = 43 student branches (Hardware Open Competition = 7 teams) Student Paper Competition = 7 student branches Software Competition = 16 student branches Ethics Competition = 19 student branches Website Competition = 19 student branches T-shirt Competition = 14 student branches We also anticipate a significant amount of member to student member engagement at SoutheastCon 2014. Students will participate in a networking event and reception, a workshop on the latest Cypress PSoC 4 technology, and a student- focused presentation by Texas Instruments on Energy Management. In addition, both Texas Instruments and Western Digital Corporation will be present in the pits at the hardware competition providing expert advice and other resources. ____________________________________________ J.
