Awards and Recognition Committee Report To: Region 3 ExCom Cc: Region 3 Committee Sb: Region 3 Awards and Recognition Committee Report Dt: 14 July 2014 Our latest Region 3 Award Winner for the Employer Professional Development Award, Southern Company, was nominated for the Educational Activities Board (EAB) Employer Professional Development Award and they won! Congratulations to Southern Company! This is the second year in a row that the award has gone to an R3 business. Do you think your company may be eligible for the award?? Another EAB Award went to Kristen Bedell, from Region 3. Kristen won the award for Pre-University Educator, “for leadership in the promotion of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education at the primary school level to increase diversity and enrich student learning”. Congratulations to Kristen on her excellent work with some of the children in Region 3! IEEE USA Awards Nominations are open. The deadline has been extended to August 29. I do not expect it to be extended again. Region 3 is submitting at least 3 nominations. Who do you know that may be eligible? Check out the list of awards for Professionalism, Technical Achievement, and Literacy here. Several people began Region 3 awards nominations while at SoutheastCon. I encourage all of you to log onto the R3 awards portal and go ahead and begin nominations for deserving R3 members. It’s much easier than waiting until the last minute!
