To: Region 3 Committee Cc: Region 3 ExCom Fm: David Green, Past Director / N&A Chair Sb: Region 3 Past-Director's Report Dt: 26 January 2015 Happy New Year! I hope that everyone has created their plans and begun execution for this new IEEE year. The IEEE collaboration tool (IEEE Collabratec) has moved into pilot. Participation is growing and we are learning how users are responding to the product. There are features in development that will be rolled into the product during the pilot. It is now possible to participate if you like -- ask me (or anyone else who is participating for an invite.) I assisted Director Randall in filling out the ExCom and associated team for 2015. Thanks again for agreeing to serve in the various roles! Please, as a leader, do your part in training others to succeed you in your volunteer position. We need to ensure that we have a good "bench" of volunteers to become our next leaders. We also know that many people will not accept positions that they have not had some earlier lower commitment level volunteering for. Please involve others in your committee and nurture them as they help you accomplish your goals. I am also on the IEEE Foundation Board of Directors and am serving as VP, Grants in 2015. As it says on the IEEE Foundation's web site: IEEE Foundation provides philanthropic services to support the IEEE core purpose of fostering technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. To fulfill this role, the IEEE Foundation relies on donations to fund new and innovative programs that support educational, humanitarian, historical preservation, and peer recognition programs of IEEE. In 2015, its grants program will only fund IEEE OU's who propose activities related that will Increase the understanding of technology and its critical role in meeting global challenges and improving the human condition. Please consider proposing a project for funding in this area. More information is available at https://www.ieeefoundation.org/Grants. Thanks to all who joined me supporting the foundation and IEEE through donations either as part of your IEEE membership renewal or online at https://www.ieeefoundation.org/donate. It is never to late to contribute.
