Director Report December 16, 2018 IEEE The IEEE Board met in November. Several actions of the Board may be of interest to the members in Region 3. The Board extended the full funding for Collabratec through 2019, which is the last year of the major development effort for this software product. This is good news for all users of Collabratec. The Board approved position statements regarding (1) support of privacy engineerint, and (2) universal access to the Internet. The Board rejected an action that would have changed the governing documents related to constitutional ammendments. IEEE Audit Committee The IEEE Audit Committee met in conjunction with the IEEE Board series. In 2019, I will serve as Chair of the Audit Committee. As alsays, the primary topic of discussion is the issue involving IEEE GLobalSpec. IEEE-USA The IEEE-USA Board of Directors approved a special allocation of surplus funds in the amount of $24,000.00 to improve the living conditions in the MOVE truck. It is anticipated that some kind of sleeping arrangements and other creature comfort items will be added to the truck with this funding. Items such as these were considered when the truck was originally designed. The Red Cross agreed to provide food and lodging for our MOVE volunteers during disasters. However, the recent hurricane was so bad that the Red Cross was not able to provide for their own volunteers. Region 3 ExCom Committee Chairs I want to express my great appreciation for the work of Chase Battaglio as Region 3 Secretary. She is stepping down from this position at the end of 2018. What a great job she has done in this rather difficult and demanding job. However, Pat Donohoe has agreed to take over the job. There will be a transition period during which the responsibilities will move from Chase to Pat. Please be patient at this transition takes place. How are you doing with respect to the goals that you set at our planning meeting last December? First IEEE Region 3 ExCom meetings for 2019 January 28, 2019, IEEE Region 3 ExCom meeting, WebEx.
