2008 Technical Program and Submission Guidelines

IEEE Southeast Conference is the annual IEEE Region 3 Technical, Professional, and Student Conference. It brings together electrical, computer and other engineering and science professionals, faculty and students to share the latest information through technical sessions, tutorials, and exhibits. It is the most influential conference in Region 3 for promoting awareness of the technical contributions made by our profession to the advancement of engineering and science and to the community. Attendance and technical program participation from areas outside IEEE Region 3 are also cordially encouraged and welcomed. IEEE Southeast Conference 2008 will be held April 3 - 6, 2008 in Huntsville, Alabama.

Scope of the Technical Program:

IEEE Southeast Conference 2008 invites prospective authors to submit their technical work on all aspects of engineering, science, and technology of current interest, to the conference. The conference's technical program includes (see Call for Papers), but is not limited to:

IEEE Southeast Conference 2008 will feature the presentation of technical papers (full length reviewed papers and extended abstracts of non-reviewed papers), as well as posters, tutorial sessions, and workshops, for which topics of both theory and applications are encouraged.

Technical Paper Submission Instructions:

The submission and review of technical papers (full length reviewed papers and extended abstracts of non-reviewed papers) for the IEEE Southeast Conference 2008 is handled by the conference's Paper Submission and Review System, accessible at https://www.softconf.com/starts/secon08/

The submitted papers must contain original work and must not have been published or presented elsewhere. We solicit both full-length reviewed papers and abstracts of non-reviewed papers.

  • Submit full-length papers for review (in .pdf) via the Paper Submission and Review System by November 16, 2007.
  • Submit extended abstracts of non-reviewed papers (in .pdf) by November 30, 2007.
  • We will complete reviews of submitted full-length papers and extended abstracts by January 11, 2008, using a simplifed review procedure to expedite the process.
  • SoutheastCon will publish accepted full-length reviewed papers with a maximum six (6) double-column pages and extended abstracts with a maximum one (1) double-column page.
  • We will make paper certificate and copyright forms available to authors by January 18, 2008.
  • Submit accepted full-length reviewed papers and extended abstracts in electronic form (.pdf) by the final due date of February 1, 2008.

All papers and abstracts to be published in the Conference Proceedings must be IEEE Xplore compliant.   We will subscribe to IEEE PDF eXpress service to assist authors in converting their files to PDF files that meet IEEE PDF compliance criteria.   Additional information, including the formats for papers and abstracts, can be found in the following documents:

Posters.  Extended abstracts of non-reviewed papers accepted for IEEE Southeast Conference 2008 may have the opportunity to be displayed as posters. (Note: Accepted extended abstracts may not be given presentation time during the conference). Authors of accepted extended abstracts who wish to display their extended abstracts as posters should notify the Technical Program Co-Chairs by February 15, 2008. Notification to authors that their extended abstracts may be displayed as posters will be by February 22, 2008.

Conference Proceedings:

All papers and abstracts accepted for IEEE Southeast Conference 2008 will be published in the Proceedings of IEEE Southeast Conference 2008 on CD. At least one author must register for the conference, paying the registration fee, in order to have their paper or abstract included in the CD. A total 6 double-column printed pages are allowed to each paper, and 1 page is allowed for each abstract. A page charge of $50.00 will be applied for each extra page (up to 2 pages for papers and 1 page for abstracts) exceeding the page limit.

Copyright Information:

Submission of a paper, an abstract or other materials to the IEEE Southeast Conference 2008 represents the author's agreement to allow IEEE to publish the paper, abstract or other materials in any written or electronic format for distribution to all interested parties in perpetuity with or without compensation to IEEE and without compensation to the author. The parties understand that the author is granting a nonexclusive license and all copyrights remain the property of the author. A copyright form must be signed by the author for each accepted paper to be published in the conference proceedings.

The IEEE copyright information will be available prior to January 18, 2008.

Important Information for Authors/Presenters

  • To be published at least one author of the paper must register by February 1.
  • Student Authors must also register by February 1 to be published.
  • Registrations received after February 1 are not guaranteed to be published.
