IEEE REGION 4 - AWARDS AND RECOGNITION ACTIVITIES The Regional Awards & Recognition Committee carries out those activities associated with the process of Region 4 Awards. The Committee pursues the development of new awards recognizing activities of great worth and merit with Region 4. It assists the Regional Director in coordinating any awards activities within Region 4 as needed. The Committee supports the IEEE Awards and Recognition Committees in the development of awards and in the development of Region 4 nominations for IEEE Awards. AWARDS DESCRIPTIONThe "Outstanding Engineer" Award is designed to recognize members of Region 4 who through their technical abilities have made outstanding contributions to their profession. It recognizes the development of new technical concepts, significant patents, development of new devices, development of applications, new designs, significant cost reductions using known techniques, etc.. Nominations for the award shall be considered annually by evaluation of nominations submitted in accordance with the award criteria and procedures. It is not the intent of the award to recognize the attainment of high organizational position alone. The "Outstanding Member" Award is designed to recognize members of Region 4 who through their professional and technical abilities have made outstanding and noteworthy contributions to the Institute, their communities, fellow professionals and fellow man. The award is not designed to recognize a single achievement, but rather collective contributions complemented by singular works exemplifying the objectives and attributes of IEEE. The award will be considered for presentation annually by evaluation of nominations submitted in accordance with the award criteria and procedures. The "Region 4 Exemplary Section" award is designed to
recognize the outstanding Section based on its success in carrying
out the objectives of IEEE through the implementation of Section
programs. In this evaluation, recognition will be given to the successful
maintenance of ongoing efforts designed to sustain the basic core
activity of the Section and its components as well as recognizing
innovative and creative efforts to develop and implement new programs
or new entities such as Chapters and Subsections among others. In
this program all Section activities of the administrative year will
be used as the basic elements and recognition will consist of an
award to the Section as well as the Chair involved. Those not selected
but submitting records indicating high levels of proficiency in
the eyes of the Region 4 Awards Committee will receive recognition
as a "High Proficiency Section".
