IEEE Canada Board Member Biographies
The operation of the IEEE Canada is managed by a Board of Directors
whose members are elected or appointed every two years. On each of these
pages, we introduce a member of the committee who volunteers his or her
time and energy to deliver the services that IEEE Canada provides.
On your behalf, we recognize their invaluable contributions.
Ferial El-Hawary, FIEEE, FEIC - President
Dr. Ferial El-Hawary received the M.Sc. in EE from the University of
Alberta , Canada and the Ph.D. in Oceans Engineering from Memorial
University of Newfoundland, Canada. She is President of BH Engineering
Systems Ltd. specializing in technology transfer.
Dr. El-Hawary served on the Faculty of Engineering at Dalhousie
University , where she established and directed the Modeling & Signal
Analysis Laboratory. Ferial published widely in IEEE Journals in OCEANS
Applications. She is Editor-in-Chief of The Ocean Engineering Handbook
published in 2001. Currently, she is an Associate Editor of IEEE Oceanic
Engineering Journal. Dr. El-Hawary is an active volunteer in IEEE and
other organizations.
