IEEE presents: Electromagnetic Compatibility
Thursday Nov.17, 5:30 in room B308 on Dalhousie's Sexton Campus
Open to ALL, FREE

Here are the SLIDES from Dr.Donald Church's presentation on electromagnetic compatibility.

Hello all, I'm pleased to announce that Dr.Donald Church of International Rectifier Automotive Systems has agreed to share his insights into what could rightly be classified as 'black magic', but is more formally known as Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). This will be a painless way to better understand what I think is an important, somewhat feared, and little-understood topic. There is also the added bonus of learning more about what goes on under the hood! The automotive environment is very unforgiving and forces electronics designers to learn the true meaning of 'robust'.

Abstract: "As automotive electronic content grows and complex electronic modules are increasingly distributed throughout the vehicle, the issue of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) becomes more and more of a design challenge for the engineer. This presentation is an overview of EMC, with emphasis on achieving it in the automotive environment. It provides an introduction to the topic and how it fits into the product development process. Important concepts and guidelines are presented and application of the guidelines is illustrated in an electro-hydraulic power steering system. The presentation concludes with a brief discussion of the connection between EMC and the IEEE."

The speech will start at 5:30, Nov. 17th, on the Sexton Campus (engineering) of Dalhousie University in room B308. Refreshments and snacks will be served. And at your option, you're more than welcome to come out afterwards for dinner and drinks.

Sincerely,

Marc Murphy
