» George Armitage Outstanding Student Branch Award

The University of British Columbia IEEE Student Branch has been selected as the winner of the 2010/2011 competition. Congratulations UBC; keep up all the great activities.


» IEEE Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award

The winners of the 2010/2011 competition are

1st: Carleton University

2nd: University of Ottawa

The first place winner, Carleton University, will compete with winners from each of the nine other Regions for the IEEE Outstanding Student Branch Award. Congratulations to both Student Branches.


» IEEE Canada Women In Engineering Prize

The deadline for submissions of nominations has been extended to August 15, 2011. The purpose of the award is to recognize excellence in young women engineering professionals and to support the Women In Engineering programme within IEEE in Canada. Click here for more information.


» Annual Membership Development (MD) Kit

Student Branch officers can now order the Annual Membership Development (MD) Kit for the 2012 membership year. The MD Kit, which consists of member recruitment printed materials, member applications, giveaways, and information pieces, will be shipped out in August 2011. » Engineering Wellness & Goodlife Fitness

An Engineer Wellness corporate program at GoodLife Fitness Canada (Energie Cardio in Quebec, Nubody in BC), is available to all members of EIC Member Societies, including student members, and their family members living under the same roof at a preferred rate. The announcement was made on the EIC website

» New Deadlines for Website Contest and Regional Student Awards

Website Contest
The deadline for website submission for the IEEE Canada Website Contest has been extended to April 30, 2011. For full contest details, visit the MGA SAC Website.

You have put in a lot of effort over the year. Now, get recognized for your achievements. A number of awards are available for Student Branches, and we have consolidated all the deadlines into a single date, May 15, 2011.

» New Student Branch and Chapter Announcement 2011

Congratulations to the University of Nothern British Columbia, Prince George and Concordia University-College of Alberta, Edmonton for forming new Student Branches and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver for forming a Power and Energy Society Student Branch Chapter.


» ICF Scholarships and Grants Deadline (March 15, 2011)

The next deadline for IEEE Canadian Foundation Scholarships and Grants is March 15, 2011. Up to five ICF scholarships valued $5000 or $2500 for active IEEE Student volunteers, ICF Special Grants valued between $500 and $3000, and up to two Vehicular Technology Travel Grants valued up to $1200 are available.

Region 7 Student Activities Committee is delighted to announce that the Carleton University Student Branch has won the Third Place in the Global Website Contest. The University of Ottawa Student Branch has been placed Runner-up.

The Annual Student Branch Workshop was held in Mississauga, ON, Sept. 17 - 19, 2010. There were about 25 attendees from Student Branches from across Canada. All training materials can be found here.

» 2009 UVS Canada Mark Cuss Scholarship

An annual scholarship of $2500 is available to all students working in the unmanned vehicle area; some conditions apply.   Deadline for applications is August 31 each year.  Click here for more information and to apply.
