Advertising with IEEE "Vancouver Section"
Web Site, Career and Contact Newsletter Advertising
Guide to Options, Rates and Deadlines

The IEEE Vancouver Section puts on many technical (and social) events throughout the year for our members. A key purpose of the Contact and our Website is to inform local IEEE members of meetings and seminars being offered during that month. The intent is to keep the local members up to date with new developments and technology and assist with their professional development. Most of the gatherings are free of charge to IEEE members and may have a slight cost to non-members to recover expenses. The Contact Newsletter is mailed to Vancouver Section members who may elect to receive the HTML high speed version by email or access on the website. Please check out the Vancouver Section's home page at: http://www.ieee.ca/vancouver/

Advertising vehicles

CONTACT Newsletter: is published monthly, nine times a year from September to May and distributed to IEEE members. This includes a printed version and HTML version for emailing to those preferring the email version.

Web Site: The website is a dynamic media which is regularly updated with material of interest to the Vancouver Section IEEE members.

Career Page support: A limited career page will provide a vehicle for members to find possible job opportunities. As this service is first and foremost for members, special advertising rates will apply for sponsors or non-sponsors.

Corporate Sponsorship Package

Standard sponsorship rates: Price for nine issues/months (Contact and Web Site): $280.37+GST = $300.00. Contact the Advertising Chair for any special sponsorship offerings.

Entitlement: Sponsorship includes a free listing in Contact and on the Website (company name, phone number, company-website), special rates for career advertising service, special rates for advertising space in Contact. New members are also entitled to one free advertisement in one issue of Contact. As there is a limited space allocated to advertising in each Contact, space allocation is on a first-come-first serve basis.

See a list of current sponsors on our website at http://www.ieee.ca/vancouver/sponsors/

Website Advertising

Listing for sponsors is free. This includes Company name, address, phone number, fax number. Simple website links (eg company links, or services) of particular interest to our members may be added for free. Career advertisements are available through the Sponsor Career Pack. Other general advertisements (non-career related) are typically $250 for 3 months for Non-Sponsors and $50 for sponsors. Contact the Advertising chair for a quote for specific needs.

Career Advertising Service

As a service to our members Sponsors can expand their sponsorship in IEEE with a Career Sponsorship Pack for $100. This entitles sponsors to the following

  • A short 2-6 line listing (maximum ¼ panel) in the Contact in the Career section (for up to 3 months).
  • A listing of your career ad or link to your career web-page for positions offered (for up to six months) or a link to your company's standard website (main page link).
  • Additional advertising can be obtained at the standard rates (with sponsors getting a special discount).

See the IEEE Career web-page at http://www.ieee.ca/vancouver/careers/

Printed Contact Advertising

Newsletter Times and distribution: The CONTACT Newsletter is published monthly, nine times a year from September to May to a circulation of IEEE British Columbia members (excluding Vancouver Island). Our section has more than 2000 IEEE members.

Deadline for submissions to printed Contact: The deadline for submitting material for publication is the first Thursday of the month. Copies are delivered between the 20th and the 30th of that month. Submissions for the website can be made at any time.

Categories of classification: Our classified listings have three categories: Manufacturers and Distributors, Consulting Engineers, and Educational Institutions. Each listing includes: the name, address, telephone number, website address and fax number of the advertiser. Also, with each new Classified Directory Listing, the advertising company is entitled to a quarter page advertisement in one monthly issue. Website advertising is for one year unless otherwise stated.

Space allocation for advertising: As there is a limited space allocated to advertising in each Contact, space allocation is on a first-come-first serve basis.

Inserts with each Contact: An insert can be distributed with each Contact newsletter. Single 8.5" x 11" inserts must be pre-folded to envelope size. A typical cost to add an insert into the CONTACT is $0.20 per insert. This would typically run at about $350. Contact the advertiser for a fixed quote or for a price for IEEE to print and fold.

Standard Contact newsletter advertising rates: Ad prices are based on camera ready material. Charges may apply for typesetting of non camera ready material. See below for the per-issue rate structure. Contact the Advertising Chair for prices for multiple listings.

See http://www.ieee.ca/vancouver/ for access to on-line copies of the Contact.

The IEEE Vancouver Section reserves the right to change these rates or policies from time to time. While IEEE cannot endorse or promote any specific companies, products, or services, we appreciate their support through sponsorships, career and professional development initiatives or donations of funds or services.
