CONFERENCE
DESCRIPTION
|
|
Following the success of the first Graduate Student Conference, Gradcon98, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Manitoba, together with many chapters of IEEE and other sponsors, has delivered Gradcon99 on current research of our Doctoral and Master's students. The conference took place at St. John's College, University of Manitoba, October 10, 2003, 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. It was attended by graduate and senior undergraduate students, professors, and representatives from various organizations and industry.
There were three main reasons for the conference. Firstly, experience in presenting research results is of increasing importance to graduate students. Secondly, undergraduate students often become motivated by the research conducted at their university. Thirdly, Manitoba industry is often unaware of the research conducted at our university.
We want to encourage all those who could not attend the conference to visit the new conference Web site to learn more about the conference and also view the electronic proceedings from both Gradcon99 and Gradcon98. A few paper copies of the proceedings have also been printed for distribution to the Departmental and Faculty libraries, sponsors, and other institutions.
