Microsoft Corporation has extended an invitation to IEEE Student members to participate in its Imagine Cup. The Imagine Cup is a technology competition, where students compete for cash and prizes, gain real life experiences, make new friends, and turn ideas into reality.

Participate in the Campus Party Europe!

The Spanish Ministry for Science and Innovation presents Campus Party Europe, a special edition of what is considered to be the biggest event for technology, creativity and digital culture online in the world, to be held during the Spanish Presidency of the European Union in Madrid, 14th-18th April 2010.

 

For four days, 800 young people from each of the 27 member states of the EU will participate in activities such as conferences, workshops nd challenges centered around three knowledge areas: Science, Digital Creativity and Innovation. Check it out online, register, and who knows, maybe you'll be selected to come for free to represent your country and your field at this event!

 

And there is more: if you happen to be in the Network Security Area, SecurityByDefault.com is  coordinating the activities related to this topic during the event. Summer Internships in Autonomous Robotics:

Applications are invited from outstanding undergraduate students not yet in their final year of studies to undertake 10-week research projects in Autonomous Robotics at NUI Maynooth, Ireland.

The goal of the Summer Internships in Autonomous Robotics (SIAR) is to engage students in research projects which focus on the technological issues surrounding autonomous humanoid robotic soccer. The programme is funded by Science Foundation Ireland through the UREKA (Undergraduate Research Experience & Knowledge Award) Programme (www.sfi.ie).

Internships are available for a period of 10 weeks, commencing on 7th June 2010. Successful students will receive a scholarship of €300/week. Support for travel costs is also available for international students. A full social programme is in place as well as seminars and tutorials in areas such as scientific writing, patenting and presentation skills. The internships are available to selected students studying a bachelor’s degree in Computing, Electronic Engineering, Applied Mathematics or other related disciplines.

IEEE Student Branch Website Contest 2009 results are OUT!

IEEE Region8 SAC is pleased to announce the results of the global IEEE student branch website contest.

After completing the first level of IEEE assessments and choosing the winners of IEEE regional website contest, the first three winners of each region qualified to participate in the IEEE Student Branch Website contest 2009, and the results came as follows:

1st Place: The University of Western Australia, Australia, R10
2nd Place: Carlton University, Canada, R7
3rd place: Bilkent University, Turkey, R8 and Cairo University, Egypt, R8
4th Place: Fatih University, Turkey, R8
5th Place: Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India, R10

Congratulations to all the winners, and many thanks to all Student Branches who participated in this contest, we will be waiting for your innovation and inspiration .. so, don't miss the next year round ;)
