The First IEEE Middle East Student Branch Congress

Amman, the capital city of Jordan and a land of great culture, will be home to the first IEEE Middle East Student Branch Congress (ME-SBC) on 11-14 May 2009.

Organized by IEEE- Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) Student Branch, in partnership with IEEE- Texas A&M University at Qatar Student Branch, and Hosted at Princess Sumaya University For Technology (PSUT), the ME-SBC will be a unique opportunity for IEEE volunteers from more than 100 different student branches in more than 10 different Sections in Region 8, to socialize and interact, develop their soft skills, enhance their insight into technology, discuss the common obstacles faced by their branches in the region and get equipped to tackle them in the upcoming year.

The First IEEE ME-SBC will honor and celebrate a great achievement: 125 years of Engineering the Future.

It will include the following major events:
1.The Volunteers Enrichment Program (VEP)
2.The Delegation of Aspiration (DOA) Contest
3.The IEEE 125th Anniversary Celebration Gala Dinner
4.The ME-SBC Award Ceremony
5.The Middle East Job Fair


Each student branch will be represented by a delegation of 4 delegates.

Applications for participation will be received and reviewed on a rolling basis starting March 1st.

International Students Meeting in Graz, Austria

From 5th to 7th of June there will be a student activity weekend with people from all over Europe. The number of participants will be limited to 100 students (first come first serve). It would be a great pleasure for us, to welcome students from your local branch at this event. Please inform us as soon as possible about a number of interested students so that we can start organising accommodation.

The so far planned program contains various activities including a sightseeing tour, short lectures, competitions, a soccer tournament and of course a party!

Participation fee will be about 50 Euros (includes room and board).

First IEEE Germany Student Conference in Electrical and Computer Engineering

The IEEE Student Branch at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) is proud to announce that the First IEEE Germany Student Conference will take place on May 14th and May 15th, 2009 on the TUHH campus. This conference is intended as a forum for all students of Electrical and Computer Engineering to present their research ideas and results gathered within their field of study, or outside university in amateur projects.

The conference will feature a poster session and oral presentations of some selected papers. The best contribution will receive the Best Paper Award. The Best Paper Award includes 500€ prize money.

During the conference it will also be possible to get in touch with the conference sponsors to talk about possible interships or jobs in the industry.

A social event will take place on the evening of May 14th. This social event will be free for all students who are the first authors of an accepted paper.

Call for papers
So if you want to participate prepare a 2-4 pages abstract/summary of your scientific work. Contributions are in English preferably, but German is also permitted.

Conference topics include: Optics, Distributed Systems, Power Electronics, Integrated Circuits, Security, Encryption, Control Systems, Sensors, Communications Protocols, RF Design

April 19th: Reviews are available
May 3rd: Camera ready paper

Robotica 2009

The IEEE-IPCB Student Branch as part of the organisation team would like to let you know that the 9th Edition of the National Robotics Festival (Portugal) will be held in Castelo Branco, from 6 to 10 of May 2009, and will be hosted in the School of Engineering (Escola Superior de Tecnologia) of the Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco. The  objective of the Festival is the dissemination of Science and Technology to the general public and all levels of students, through competitions involving robots. Competitions of the different leagues include Autonomous Driving (since the beginning of the event),  Medium and Small Soccer and several junior leagues, Soccer, Dance and Search and Rescue, under official RoboCup rules. The Festival also includes the 9th Conference on Autonomous Robot Systems and Competitions.

Call for papers: 2nd International Students Conference on Electrodynamic and Mechatronic

The Opole Student Branch of IEEE and IEEE Poland Section, Magnetics Chapter together with Scientific Student Group ELEDYN (Opole University of Technology) are proud to announce the 2nd International Students Conference on Electrodynamics and Mechatronics (SCE II) that will take place in Góra Św. Anny and Opole in Poland between the 19th and the 21stMay 2009.

AIM AND SCOPE
The goal of the conference is to present young scientists' latest research topics, results connected with electrodynamics topics, (prefered students, PhD Students, and young post-doc scientist). The best papers from each module will be published and awarded (in some cases another review stage will be required).
