Mr. Jim McIntosh, Director, Executive Operations Advisor
Title: "Strategies for the Integration of Green Energy"
Jim McIntosh is the Director, Executive Operations Advisor in the System Operations Department at the California ISO. For the last 9 years he was the Director of Grid Operations at the California ISO. His current focus is on integrating renewable resources onto the electricity grid. Prior to joining the ISO as the Director of Scheduling in 2000, he worked for Pacific Gas and Electric Company for 29 years in various capacities including grid operations, hydro system, steam plant operations and substation operations. He has been a Transmission Dispatcher, Scheduler, Generation Dispatcher, Shift Supervisor, Manager of Operations, and Director of Grid Outage Coordination and Scheduling. He is certified by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) as a Reliability Coordinator. Jim is on the Electrical Engineering Industrial Advisory Board for the University of Montana.
Jim is currently the ISO/RTO representative to the NERC Operating Committee and is the past Chair of the NERC Interchange Authority Subcommittee. In addition, he has served as the ISO representative to the WECC Operating Committee and he represented WECC on the NERC Variable Generation Task Force. Jim is the past Chair of the WECC Interchange Subcommittee. He is a 30 year member of the American Power Dispatcher’s Association. Jim has a B.A. in Business Management from Saint Mary’s College.
