Pakistan Student Congress `09

The primitive purpose of this congress is to bring together all the student branches in Pakistan and inculcate the idea of community and sharing of knowledge of issues pertaining to IEEE. It is deemed to provide a productive national forum discussing the technological challenges faced by Pakistan. In 2007, the IEEE-PSC 2007 was conducted by FAST (NUCES) Karachi Campus. In 2008, the IEEE-PSC 2008 was conducted by GCU Faisalabad. Now the IEEE-PSC 2009 is recently conducted by NUST Islamabad.

Events Planned By IEEE-PSC at NUST Islamabad are:

Opening Ceremony at 5:00pm, 29/05/09

The opening ceremony of the 3rd IEEE Pakistan Student Congress, PSC 2009 was held at SCEE, NUST Islamabad on May 29, 2009. This congress is rotated between the three sections of Pakistan namely Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. The first two congresses were held in Karachi and Faisalabad respectively. The joint event (PSC 2009 and NUST Olympiad 2009) was inaugurated by Dr. Asad Abidi in a jam packed auditorium of SCEE. Dr. Abidi held an interactive session on "How to take Pakistan EE to the next level". As an attendee and engineer, i can guarantee that it was thought provoking session the congress was formally opened by Mr. Osaid Khaliq.

NadeenLecture by Nadeem Chauhan

Later on Mr. Nadeem Chawhan held a session on "Changing Mindsets". His humorous style and discussion on EQ and IQ kept the audience involved.Soon after the formal opening of PSC, there was a motivational seminar by Mr.Nadeem Chawhan.

Ice-breaking Activity at 8:00pm, 29/05/09
In this activity participants of all the universities from Pakistan including The University of Faisalabad interacted with each other. Purpose of this activity was to create network of the students. The first day of the congress ended at around 9 p.m.

Branch Delegates' Presentations at 9:30am, 30/05/09
The second day proceedings started with a talk by Mr. Aamer Jelani (Counselor, IEEE-NUST SEECS). He also read out the message from the Region 10 Director for the PSC 2009 participants. Mr. Amir Zahoor (SSR, IEEE Lahore Section) delivered a talk to motivate "Pakistani Youth."
In this session branch delegates present their university (NUST) with help of map they explained their campus which is being constructed. Their plan was appreciated and was a nice plan.

 

 

Branches Presentations at 9:45am, 30/05/09
Mr. Om Perkash Batra (Regional Student Representative, IEEE Region 10) arrived at the Congress around 10: 30 a.m. as he was out of the country earlier. Currently, representatives of different student branches are giving their branch presentations.
Branch Presentation of The University of Faisalabad
After arrival of Mr. Om Perkash Batra (Regional Student Representative, IEEE Region 10). Mr. Ubaid Umar (Chairperson IEEE-TUF) presented the university, about departments specially Department of Electrical Engineering and its faculty. Audience appreciated the presentation and efforts done by TUF.

Group Discussions
On the eve of second day of the congress, IEEE Pakistan Student Congress attendees were allocated discussion groups to network and provide feedback on the Pakistan Student Congress 2009. They were given 8-9 hours to compile their suggestions. The next day Chairman Islamabad Section, Mr. Om Perkash Batra, Me, Mr. Shahab Siddiqui and other senior volunteers discussed those matters and suggestions. Region 10 RSR, Om Batra assured the participants that some of the positive suggestions would be taken into account for the PSC 2010.

What Did We Gain
We met with the students of different universities and told them about our university environment and departments. We gave presentation on our University and told its facts there.
We also had a chance to take lecture of Dr. Asad Abidi (first dean of Lahore University of Management Sciences's also served in Bell Laboratories).
We had a discussion with business panel working in top organizations in different parts of country. We met with some other professors who appreciated the efforts of the students of The University of Faisalabad.
