The history of IEEE in Babcock University can be traced to the efforts of Yinka Adeboju, who then was the only registered member in the university. With his commitment to bringing development to the school, he called up some interested students and discussed and enlightened them about the benefits and objectives of IEEE. Thus, the first executives were created with Obianefo Esimai as the president elect. But as the Babcock University policy stipulates that every club or institute must be registered with the school body provided a sponsor is secured; It was not until November 2005 that IEEE Babcock University Student branch was registered with the school board. The creation of a Student branch in the region is still on – the process being positive, as the complete registration is meant to be settled before November 2006.
