IEEE EMAIL ALIAS
e-mail Alias for all member!

IEEE offers as one of its many members services students and professionals the e-mail alias (member@ieee.org)

Free e-mail virus detection service.

This service includes the VIRUS DETECTION for FREE. This virus detection or search is performed in messages only when they have any file as an “attachment”. Any message with attachments passing through the IEEE system will be previously verified before being redirected to the destination address.

If any virus is found in the attached file, the system will warn to the sender and also to the receiver. The infected file will be deleted from the e-mail message, and only the message body will be sent.

Virus Proliferation in the informatic world is high and because of this IEEE updates its virus list on a weekly basis, which guarantees great efficiency in these detections

¿What is an e-mail alias?

E-mail alias is in itself an e-mail messages redirecting service, which IEEE offers to its members.
The “Alias” Substitutes our “real” e-mail address to make our communication easier. In example: My e-mail alias is v.pacora@ieee.org, but mi real e-mail address is v.pacora@uni.edu.pe in my Internet Service Provider, When someone sends me an e-mail message to my IEEE alias, this goes through the IEEE system (in Piscataway, USA) and is re-directed to my real e-mail address. If I changed my Internet Service Provide, or changed my job, it will be enough to update that information in the IEEE System.

The work to keep the alias updated depends on yourself, otherwise future messages will be delivered to the previously defined address

How to get the alias?

The easiest and most recommendable way is to do so through the web site starting from IEEE EMAIL ALIAS, in the option “The IEEE Personal Email Alias” will go directly to the registration zone of your new alias. For its registration in the system you will have to have your membership number and have already thought how will your alias be. All alias always end with “@ieee.org” for which the first part of the alias is for you to choose.

For volunteer members is recommended using the form [first name initials].[surname], as in “v.pacora” but the choice is free and the intermediate dot can be used or not. Anyway choose an alias that is easy to remember because this is another of the reasons for having an IEEE email alias.

Updates are made through the website as well, in the Update your alias section. https://eleccomm.ieee.org/aliases/update.shtml There is also a way to register/update/delete an alias via e-mail if you wish, to do so, write a blank message to “alias-info@ieee.org”

Automatically a message will be sent to you with the instructions to make these operations, read them carefully.

For more details about this service and its policies visit the “http://www.ieee.org/alias” and in the indicated URLs.

hurry to register in this magnificent service! IEEE members only

Don’t suspend your membership!
