Meeting Thursday and New Officers!

I know everyone has been waiting impatiently for the announcement of the new officers...

Don't worry! Just come to our general meeting this Thursday, 1:45pm at the BEL lounge area, where we will have pizza and a new club chair to actually officiate the meeting! We will also discuss the end-of-the-year BBQ and other matters that may be life changing for you. So go. Thanks.

See you all there!

OFFICER ELECTIONS INFORMATION! IMPORTANT

Heyyyy!

I know everyone's waiting for me to step down and take my position, but before that, you better read the information below:

I. Election procedure
Submit a 1-page paper (just be reasonable with font size, margin, spacing, etc.) with the following:
1. Name
2. Major and Year
3. Position running for
4. Why you want to take that position and why you think you are perfect for that position
Please pass submissions to JTTan@scu.edu and SKrishnan@scu.edu with the e-mail title:
IEEE OFFICER FORM
(for example: Jason Tan IEEE OFFICER FORM)
Any form of not following these instructions means instant disqualification for not being smart enough to follow simple instructions. (So please no 100-pages submission. Please spend that time doing something else more meaningful. Thanks)

II. Positions Available and Descriptions
1. Chair/President
Represents the student chapter and organizes the club, the chair (or president) sets the goals of the club and plans to achieve those goals. The chair attends regional meetings with other schools, and assigns responsibilities to other officers. Also, the chair is generally a senior in his or her respective major. The chair may be required by the EE department to attend the EEDAB (Electrical Engineering Department Advisory Board) where important departmental issues are discussed. Other details are left open for the chair to decide.
Tasks: Setting up meetings, making decisions, attending regional meetings, talking with Dr. Krishnan a lot, befriend Sotheary and Shane, etc etc etc.

2. Vice-chair/VP
I like to describe this position as the slave of the chair/president, but that's just me. On a more serious note, this position takes the chair's position if the former is absent/unavailable. Also, detailed tasks are left open for discussion. I assigned my vice-chair to handle inter-school matters for example.
Tasks: Help out the chair when needed to do the chair's tasks, like getting him/her coffee. Thanks Gopal.

3. Junior Representative

4. Sophomore Representative
These two representatives, as the names imply, represents the two respective classes. Their main goals are to increase the attendance and participation of the respective classes through activities and advertising. They also can raise up issues faced by the respective year levels to the chair, who can bring it to the EEDAB or department.
Tasks: Be friendly and smile always. Bring their respective classes to the meetings and activities of IEEE, and represent their respective classes.

5. Treasurer
Very important job! As the name implies, the treasurer handles all money issues. This includes, but not only, planning out budget, carrying a lot of money, coordinating with ASSCU (or begging, whichever), and planning fund raisers with Activities Coordinator. This is a position that can also contribute to an individual's business sense.
Tasks: Keep a simple account of club's funds, coordinate with ASSCU, handle any form of money that the club is involved with.

6. Activities Coordinator
Do you love to plan activities? Then you must be an Activities Coordinator! The Activities Coordinator plans activities (surprise!). Activities include, but not only, field trips to companies, social outings, and general meetings (including food!).
Tasks: Plan activities...

7. Secretary
This is a new position! Very exciting! The secretary writes a lot of stuff, like minutes, contribute to the "archive" (a record of what works and what doesn't work, and other information to pass down to next officers), takes pictures, etc. etc. etc.
Tasks: Take minutes, pictures, etc.

8. Webmaster
Another new position. Since we are participating in the website competition this year, we want to continue with a continual updating of an active website for the club. The webmaster will handle that.
Tasks: Design, organize, and implement club's website.

III. Deadline
The deadline is 11:59pm of April 28, 2011.

IV. Criteria for elections
The officers will be decided by the faculty advisor, Dr. Krishnan, the current officers, and blindfolded darts with country music and pink elephants, all inside a large washing machine. Maybe.

V. Other stuff
Elected officers will go through a mini training/workshop by the current officers, and they have to fill up the year-end report for me 'cause I'm getting lazy. Haha! Just joking, but really.

I hope that's all clear! God bless to everyone running for officer positions.
