The IEEE student branch came to our college 2 yrs back by the sincere efforts of Dr. Subalaxmi Kher (counsellor & IEEE member) and Vinay chopra (former chairperson of IEEE student branch). The branch at SGSITS, Indore, was officially inaugurated by Mrs. Sumitra Mahajan, Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister. The event was also presided over by Dr. Kalyan Sundaram, IEEE chief of the Bombay section. With this the IEEE activities officially gained ground at the SGSITS campus . Now, after 2 yrs of hard work, it has been declared a sub-section in itself. IEEE enjoys immense popularity in SGSITS, which is unprecedented as can be easily seen from the fact that the memberships have increased in last yr by more than 100 % comprising of students not only from our college but also from other colleges in and around Indore. The branch has succeeded in creating a general awareness of what IEEE is all about amongst the students and teachers of various engineering & science colleges. The main aim of IEEE being to keep everybody technically updated in the today’s knowledge based society; the organization has gladly been able to come up to its expectations of trying to bring in the whirlpool of knowledge at one platform for all those who want to access it. Moreover all the major companies that come to the campus for recruitment appreciate students who are associated with the IEEE. Being associated with IEEE is therefore valuable to the students.
