Back to TopHow much will it cost ?IEEE is a prestigious international organization with the cream of the technical society of the world a part of it. In spite of this IEEE membership rates are very nominal with special rates for students. These rates are however not permanent and may change from time to time. Student Yearly Membership = 14$ (Liable to increase to 25$ from Sept. 2002 )

So feel free to apply. The grade assigned to new members will vary depending on academic accomplishment and work experience. Technical and non-technical applicants who would benefit by membership and participation in the IEEE enter as Associate members. Member and Senior Member grades recognize those who have achieved professional proficiency, as demonstrated by degrees received and/or work experience. IEEE Fellow grade is reserved for those members with unusual distinction in the profession and is conferred only by invitation of the Board of Directors. Membership dues are the same for all members (except Students who pay substantially reduced membership dues) although Regional assessments vary depending upon where you live. Funds collected as Region assessments are returned to local entities to support meetings, newsletters and other Region-based member activities. All members receive the same benefits and services with the exception of voting privileges and holding elected office. These benefits are limited to those holding Member grade or higher. For an overview of some of the key membership benefits, visit http://www.ieee.org/membership/benefits.html Back to TopWhat should I expect when I apply for IEEE membership?An Acknowledgment letter (contains member number) sent within 4 business days of receipt of the application. Acknowledgment letters are sent 1st class in the US & Canada and Air Mail for the rest of the world. Depending upon where you live you can expect delivery to take 2 days to 2 weeks from the time the letter is mailed. New Member Welcome Kit (contains membership card and information) is sent within 16 business days of receipt of application. The New Member Welcome Kit will contain the member card, a receipt for your dues payment and detailed information on IEEE member benefits and services and how to access them. Expedited first issue of IEEE Spectrum New members receive their first issue of Spectrum on an expedited basis; regular delivery (after the first expedited copy) will take about 6 to 10 weeks, depending where you are in the world. This expedited first copy is mailed (1st class in US/Canada and air mail for the rest of the world) within 8 business days of receipt of the application Back to Top |
