UCT ComSoc Student Chapter

The IEEE Communications Society student chapter at the University of Cape Town, which which was the first student technical chapter to be formed in South Africa, was formally established on the 3rd of September 2009. The formation of the chapter was championed by then Vice Chair of the UCT IEEE Student Branch and Chair of the ComSoc Student chapter Josephine Nakato.

Tellumat Field Trip

On Wednesday 6 April 2011, CCS organised a field trip to the telecommunications and defence company Tellumat in Tokai. 41 UCT learners attended the trip where the students were given a presentation by the CEO of Tellumat as well as all the Managing Directors of all the different departments. It was followed by a small tour of the premises and then the students were treated to refreshments as well as each student being given a gift bag with all sorts of free merchandise. Tellumat went to an extraordinarily great deal of effort to welcome the IEEE and the trip was a superb success. Full story...
