| CCS organised a field trip to the telecommunications and defence company Tellumat in Tokai. 41 UCT learners attended the trip where the students were given a presentation by the CEO of Tellumat as well as all the Managing Directors of all the different departments. It was followed by a small tour of the premises and then the students were treated to refreshments as well as each student being given a gift bag with all sorts of free merchandise. Tellumat went to an extraordinarily great deal of effort to welcome the IEEE and the trip was a superb success. Full story... |

| WIE held an outreach initiative at Thandokhulu High School. They spoke about all disciplines in Electrical Engineering to 136 Grade 12 learners. They then split the learners up into groups and used all volunteers who attended the event to facilitate a question and answer session about engineering at UCT. We believe students gained a lot from the event and so it was a great success. Full story... |

| On Thursday 24 March, RAS hosted South African Breweries (SAB) at UCT with a presentation aimed at Mechatronics Engineers. Over 100 Mechanical and Mechatronics students attended the talk where SAB covered topics such as scholarships and bursaries, internship and vacation work opportunities as well as job application procedures for students about to graduate. | PES attended the Kensington High Science day and organised a renewable energies exhibition stand. This was an event organised overall by the Science Faculty of UCT where PES was invited to attend. 2000 grade 11 and 12 learners from around Cape Town attended the event which also had stands discussing different aspects of science.
