  • January 29, 2001

    The first meeting of the year was held to select the IEEE Student Branch officers. The following students were unanimously selected :

  • February 23, 2001

    A lecture was arranged on "3G Communications" by Prof.Jayaraman.
    The guest presented a detailed account of the following features :

    1. Basic Cellular Systems.
    2. Working of a Cellular System.
    3. Available Data links.
    4. Merits and demerits of the Cellular Communication.

    All the students of "IEEE Student Branch" attended and the lecture lasted for about two hours.

  • June 15, 2001

    The next meeting was held to carry out the annual plans i.e.,guest lectures, industrial visits, paper contests, student seminars, etc. during the year 2001. Various conclusions in regard to the annual plans were reached.

  • June 29, 2001

    An industrial visit was arranged by Ms.J.Sharmila - Students Chairman to the Atomic Power Plant at Kalpakkam. The visit was highly informative and interesting.
    The students visited at IGCAR which contains the following :

    1. Nuclear reactor power plant.
    2. Breeder reactor.
    3. Fast Breeder reactor.

    The industrial visit lasted for half a day.

  • July 14, 2001

    The second industrial visit was arranged by Mr.A. Leo Raja (incharge for Industrial visit arrangements) Bharat Heavy Electrical (BHEL) at Ranipet. The students were interactive and raised all kinds of doubts to show their interest forwards the visit.

    The students took to their notice the following :

    1. Workshops
    2. Fluid Mechanics Lab
    3. Electronics Lab
    4. Metrology Lab

    The visit lasted for a day and the students were accompanied by three staff to guide.

  • July 23, 2001

    A guest lecture was held on "Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic" by Ms.Pappa, M.E.,Ph.d.. The guest is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Instrumentation & Control, Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai.

  • August 20th & 21st, 2001

    A national level symposium was conducted in collaboration with the Association of Electronics and Communication Engineers.

    Various technical events were conducted namely paper presentation, Far pointers, chip Trix, Block & Tackle (Technical) Quest (Quiz) and Adzap.

    About 85 papers were received, from participants on topics like Bio signal processing, Broadband communication, Networking, Mechatronics and Electronics Warfare. The Symposium was conducted successful.

  • August 27, 2001

    A lecture on "How to prepare and present technical papers" was delivered to encourage IEEE student members to participate in paper presentations and conferences. It was presented by Dr.S.Mohan, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.

  • September 3 - 7, 2001

    A short term training programme on "Computer Communication and Networking" is to be held from September 3rd to 7th . This programme is conducted by Technical Teacher Training Institute (Southern Region) Chennai - 13. This organisation is run by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. This is the 1st time such a training programme is been conducted especially for students of one college. We are highly thankful to staff of Electrical & Electronics Department of TTTI.
