Intrinsic: A word used to indicate a semiconductor that has no impurities.
Idle Current: The amount of electrical power required to keep an inverter ready to produce electricity on demand.
Impedance: Opposition to flow of alternating current (AC).
Inrush Current: The peak power that a load will draw at the instant that it starts up.
Islanding: The condition present when the utility power grid fails and the inverter attempts to power the grid. An inverter which is "islanding protected" senses the loss of AC power from the grid and does not back feed into the grid system.
Insolation: The amount of sunlight reaching an area.
Inverter: A power condition device used to change DC energy to 120 volt AC energy.
Junction Diode: A diode consisting of a PN junction and suitable connecting leads.
