Open-circuit Voltage: The voltage between the positive and negative terminals of a photovoltaic module when the module is not connected to any load or battery.
Oscilloscope: A device that displays the wave form created by an electrical generating device such as a generator, inverter, or utility.
Output Waveform: Shape of the wave that alternating current makes as its voltage rises and falls with time.
Overcharge: The charging of a battery beyond full charge.
Peak Inverse Voltage: In an electron tube, the maximum negative voltage that can be applied to the plate without danger of arc-over. In
a semiconductor diode, the maximum reverse bias voltage that can be applied without reaching the zener (or breakdown)voltage.
Plate:In an electron tube, the electrode that must be positive with respect to the cathode to allow the tube to conduct. Also called the Anode.
Plate Current:In an electron tube, the electron flow from cathode to plate. In the external plate circuit, the electron flow from the plate through the circuit, to the cathode.
Plate Voltage:In an electron tube, the difference of potential between plate and cathode.
PN Junction:A junction between an N-type semiconductor and a P-type semiconductor made by some method of diffusing, fusing
or melting.
P-type semiconductor:A doped semiconductor in which the majority current carriers are holes.
Plates:In a capacitor, the plates are the conducting surfaces.
Panel: A colloquial term for a photovoltaic module.
Parallel Wiring: A group of electrical devices, such as batteries or photovoltaic modules, wired together to increase ampacity, while voltage remains constant. (Two 100 amp hour, 12 volt DC batteries wired in parallel will form a 200 amp-hour 12 volt DC battery bank.
Pass Through Current: The amount of current the inverter can safely pass directly from the AC input to the AC output.
Peak Sun Hours: 1000 watt-hours per square meter for one hour. A unit of measure of the solar energy available at noon on a clear day at the Earth's surface.

Peak Sun Hours: 1000 watt-hours per square meter for one hour. A unit of measure of the solar energy available at noon on a clear day at the Earth's surface.
Photovoltaic (PV): The conversion of solar energy directly to electrical energy.
Power Sharing: The ability of the charger to reduce its output when the AC power being consumed by the charger and external AC loads connected to the output of the inverter is in excess of the input breaker rating.
