Amélie is a first year PhD student in Electronic Engineering department in the Centre for Digital Music. Her research interests are mainly concerned with computer science applied to music because she is both a musician (classical guitar and flute) and a computer scientist. She has already done several internships (at Sony and Philips) in this field. Her PhD project deals with building high-level descriptors of music based on logical expressions.
Before coming to Queen Mary, University of London in April 2007 she obtained both a Diplôme d'Ingénieur ("Engineering diploma" which is the French equivalent of Master degree) in computer science in France and a Master degree in Complex Adaptive Systems from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. She enjoys working in multi-cultural environments as she studied in an international high school, went to Sweden for her studies and did her Master's thesis in the Netherlands in the multi-cultural Philips Research laboratories.
