Oliver is a first year PhD student in the Networks Research Group in the
Department of Electronic Engineering at Queen Mary, University of London.
His research interests are in the field of the network layer aspects of
(802.11 Wi-Fi) Wireless Networks. Oliver's work is looking into two growing
uses of these wireless networks which they were not typically designed for.
The first is the movement towards Internet Telephony (VoIP) and the second
is the development of Blanket Metropolitan Area Networks such as San
Francisco and Paris.
Oliver received his BEng in Computer Engineering at Queen Mary in 2006.
Previously he lived in Virginia, USA for over three years and co-organised
such events as a Cricket Match between the Brit's and Americans (which
required prior teaching to not throwing the bat away like one would in
baseball!)
