CPMT Membership Report
Congratulations! You have helped the CPMT Society become the third
fastest growing IEEE Society in 1997. Please help your Society
grow further in 1998 by telling your colleagues about the values
of being an IEEE and CPMT member.
1997 Membership
At the end of 1997, the CPMT Society had 3,780 members (Higher
Grades, Students, and Affiliates). This was a growth rate of 4.7%.
Membership (Higher Grades and Students) distribution by Region
and the associated increase is:
Region ........Members.........% of Total..........Growth %

Email Alias for All IEEE Members
At the last CPMT Board of Governors meeting on January 31 in Newark,
a resolution passed in support of IEEE providing an email alias
to all members. The IEEE board of Directors has since agreed at
their February meeting to offer an email alias to all IEEE members
by the end of 1998. Currently if you are an active IEEE volunteer
you can already obtain an email alias by going to the IEEE website
and registering.
An email alias allows you to provide associates with one never
changing email address by automatically forwarding your email
to your ever changing local email provider. When you change your
local provider (change jobs) you only need to email IEEE with
the forwarding change. This will save you a tremendous amount
of time used to contact everyone in your email address book. Details
on how to take advantage of this new service will be provided
when it comes available.
Table Top Display
The CPMT Society now has a table top display that you can use
to recruit new members at conferences and other meetings. Some
members are planning on setting up the display at various companies
in their area. If you would like to use the display, contact me
at <cpmt-membership@ieee.org>
Thanks!
Your help in recruiting and retaining CPMT Society members is
greatly appreciated. If you ever have any questions about your
membership, please let me know.
