IEEE CPMT NEW TECHNOLOGY DIRECTIONS COMMITTEE (TC-15)
It is well known that emerging technologies are creating new markets and new opportunities. Companies that make aggressive use of technological innovation gain an enormous advantage. The future of a company may well depend on the ability of its leaders to stay on the cutting edge of technology.
A new IEEE CPMT Technical Committee, New Technology Directions Committee (NTDC, TC-15), has been formed to assist CPMT Society members to obtain, on a permanent basis, the information on new and emerging technologies, new applications of the existing technologies, and even new markets for CPMT related technologies and businesses. The activities of the Committee will include, but will not be limited to, collecting, analyzing and disseminating information on new and emerging technologies; establishing liaison and exchange of information, within the scope of the CPMT Society, with the NTDC’s of other IEEE Societies, as well as with other professional societies (APS, MRS, SPE, OSA, ASME, etc.); prepare "one-liner" information (brief description of new and emerging technologies which are of interest to the IEEE community) for the NTDC of the IEEE Technical Activities Board; organize sessions, workshops and conferences on new directions, either separately, or within the framework of various CPMT conferences and workshops, both domestically and abroad; visit leading companies and research institutions to get familiar with new technologies and technical concepts.
The members of the newly formed TC-15 are: Ephraim Suhir (Chairman), Terry Dishongh (Secretary), Gerry Witter (TC-1),Tom Reynolds (TC-2),Corey Koehler (TC-3), Wyck Seelig (TC-4), Connie D’Egidio (TC-6), Joseph Mantz and Tony Chan (TC-7), John Reekstin and Court Skinner (TC-8),Tony Mak (TC-9), Michael Lebby (TC-10), Douglas Hopkins (TC-13), Evan Davidson (TC-14). Members-at-Large of the Committee are: John Stafford (CPMT President), Rao Tummala (CPMT Technical VP), Ralph Wyndrum (CPMT Past President), C.P.Wong (CPMT Past President), George Harman, John Segelken, Gerard Kelly. The meetings of the Committee will take place twice annually, during the CPMT Society Board of Governors Meeting and during the ECTC to discuss and address issues related to the activities of the TC-15. In between meetings, e-mail would be the main mode of communication.
You do not have to be a formal TC-15 member to provide information (particularly, one-line information) on new and emerging technologies. You are invited to do so by contacting, any time, E. Suhir by e-mail: suhir@lucent.com.
