IEEE European Systems Packaging Workshop
Blarney Park Hotel, Cork, Ireland
January 25th - 27th, 1999
The IEEE Systems Packaging Workshop committee of the CPMT Society is pleased to make this announcement of the Sixth biennial European Systems Packaging Workshop, to be held in Cork. The five previous workshops were held in Brussels, Cork and Malta.
This time we decided to move back to Cork , the location for two very successful workshops in 1993 and 1995. As always, the program will cover a variety of topics of interest to a system packaging professional, including computer, telecoms, automotive, optical and, for the first time, a session is planned on microsystem (MST) and micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) packaging solutions.
In accordance with CPMT TC14 custom, no material will be published, and neither cameras nor tape recorder will be permitted. No proprietary information will be discussed, and technical discussions and exchanges will be interactive and informal to an extent not normally engaged in at other meetings.
Attendance will be limited to 100 attendees to ensure an informal workshop atmosphere. Since these workshops are non-profit, the workshop fee will be essentially the hotel fee (all meals and hotel room). The schedule for the workshop is to start on Moday 25th after lunch and to finish at lunchtime Wednesday 27th. There will be evening sessions on Monday and Tuesday, and Tuesday afternoon will be free for touring in the Cork area to be followed by pre-dinner musical entertainment.
A visit to the National Microelectronics Reasearch Centre (NMRC) in Cork city will be arranged for interested attendees for the Wednesday afternoon. Additional hotel days will also be possible either before or after the workshop.
The Hotel choice for the workshop is the Blarney Park, next to the well known Blarney Castle with the famous Blarney Stone, and set in the village of Blarney about 10 km from Cork Airport. The Blarney Park was used for the two previous workshops held in Cork and is a modern hotel with a full leisure facilities and pool.
There are a number of daily flights form London Heathrow and Amsterdam Schipol to Cork, from many European cities to Dublin with links on to Cork and there are several daily flights from Newark, JFK and Boston to Shannon and Dublin.
The General Chair for the Workshop will be John Barrett of NMRC Ireland and the Program Chair will be Jack Balde of IDC, USA. An international Programme Committtee has been appointed. Information updates on the workshop programme and a registration form will be available via the NMRC Ireland Web Page (http://nmrc.ucc.ie).
