CPMT Awards Announced
The IEEE CPMT Awards Committee announced the following awardees for the 1999 year:
1. David Feldman Outstanding Contributions Award: Ron Gedney (NEMI, Herndon, VA) for continuous and meritorious service to the CPMT Society and electronic packaging technology.
2. Outstanding Sustained Technical Contribution Award: Toshi Watari (NEC Niigata Ltd., Japan) for major contributions to system packaging, including the execution of copper/polyimide signal and distribution layers in early MCM structures.
3. Electronic Manufacturing Technology Award: Dimitry Grabbe (AMP, Inc., Harrisburg, PA) for major contributions to interconnection technology, including the plastic chip carrier concept and related connectors and for continuing leadership in the industry.
4. Outstanding Young Engineer Award: Corey Koehler (AMKOR, Chandler, AZ, formerly with Motorola, Inc. Tempe AZ) for numerous contributions to chip scale packaging technology, the Electronic Components and Technology Conference and CPMT Society activities.
These awards will be presented on June 3, 1999 at the 49th ECTC conference in San Diego, CA, along with the awards for 1998. Thanks to the IEEE CPMT Awards Committee members: Jack Balde, William Chen, Dennis Olsen, Len Schaper, C.P. Wong , Marsha Tickman, and Rao Bonda (Chair).
