CPMT Awards Announced
On behalf of the IEEE CPMT Awards Committee, I am pleased to
announce the winners of the following CPMT awards for the year
2000:
David Feldman Outstanding Contribution Award:
Dr. John Lau of Express Packaging Systems, Inc. for his serv-ice
to various CPMT activities over the years and for his contri-butions
to electronic packaging technology.
Outstanding Sustained Technical Contributions Award:
Dr. Ephraim Suhir of Lucent Technologies, Inc. for his pio-neering
work in Materials and Mechanical Engineering related to microelectronics
and fiber-optics structures, and for his con-tributions to CPMT
conferences and activities.
Electronic Manufacturing Technology Award:
Dr. Rama Shukla of Intel Corporation for his leadership and technical
direction in the development and high yield manufac-turing of
flip chip packages using organic substrate technology for Intel's
microprocessors family.
Outstanding Young Engineer Award:
Mr. Matt Schwiebert of Agilent Technologies for his contri-butions
to the development and manufacturing of electronic packaging assembly
processes within Hewlett-Packard and Ag-ilent Technologies, and
for his contributions to CPMT confer-ences.
These awards will be presented to them during the 50th ECTC
in Las Vegas (May 22-24, 2000) at the CPMT luncheon.
On behalf of the CPMT Society, I thank the people who have
submitted nominations for these awards. I also thank the mem-bers
of the Award Committee for reviewing the nominations and selecting
the winners for the year 2000, and Marsha Tickman for her help
in the awards process.
