Michael B. McShane wins Motorola Patent Award
The Motorola U.S. Patent of the Year award program began in
1980 to
recognize the value of patents of the success of Motorola and
its many
businesses. The recipient receives a check, a beautiful desk award
and
a commemorative plaque. The award is judged on an objective evaluation
of the patent's contribution to the royalty income from the licensing
program.
Patents enhance a company's success in three ways: establishing
a
proprietary market advantage, improving financial performance
and
enhancing overall competitiveness. Congratulations to this year's
Patent of the Year award recipient, Michael
B. McShane.
Mike's U.S. Patent is titled "Semiconductor Device Having
a Pad Array
Carrier Package". At the awards banquet in October, Mike
said, "Thank you. I am very honored to receive this award
and recognition. I would like to thank my co-inventors and many
global Motorola colleagues who helped take this new technology
and make it a manufacturing success."
"Intellectual property has been transformed from a sleepy
area of law
and business to one of the driving engines of a high-technology
economy." said Sabra Chartrand of The New York Time.
