The Whitehead Memorial Lecture is named in honor of Dr. John Boswell Whitehead, a pioneer in electrical insulation and dielectrics and a long-time contributor to the CEIDP. Professor Yoshimichi Ohki is currently Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Bioscience at Waseda University, Japan and is a Senior Fellow in the Center for Research and Development Strategy in the Japan Science and Technology Agency. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Waseda University in 1978. He has received numerous honors and awards including the Yazaki Science Award in 1995, IEEE Fellow in 2000, the Eric O. Forster Distinguished Service Award in 2002 and the Ieda Memorial Award from the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan in 2004. He has published more than 250 papers in refereed journals, contributed to over 600 papers in Japanese conferences, and has contributed to several textbooks and handbooks. His research interests include organic and inorganic dielectric materials for optical fiber and power cable.
