Welcome to
the official website of the Central Texas Chapter of the IEEE EMC Society. As
part of the Central Texas Section of the IEEE, our chapter is open to those interested
in the field of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) design, test, and
certification. Our members include technicians, engineers, consultants, and
other professionals ranging in expertise from entry level to those of
international renown.
EMC or
Electromagnetic Compatability is described as a products ability to function as
intended in its electromagnetic environment.
This includes mitigation of noise from computing equipment that can
interfere with radio reception, mobile phones that can interfere with hearing
aids, or radar transmitters that can interfere with Avionics.
EMC is
generally considered to be discipline acquired through self-study. To assist
the EMC profession, our chapter activities are intended to provide invaluable
continuing education, professional development and networking opportunities for
those with similar interest, issues, and experiences. In today's environment of
self-managed career development, your EMC chapter is here to help.
If you would
like to contribute to a chapter meeting by sponsoring a meal or nominating a
speaker for a chapter meeting, please contact Mike Royer (see Officers)
Your EMC
chapter is hosting the EMC Symposium in August 2009. This is an international conference event
featuring trade show booths, and technical presentations. Your involvement is needed to make this a
success. Contact Dave Staggs (see Officers) to
see how you can help.
This years
EMC symposium is held in Hawaii,
and occurs in August, as usual. We
suggest you reserve your hotel room early if you plan to attend.
Please check
this website to verify meeting date/time/location and speaker bio/topic. We
look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.
