IAS Distinguished Lecturer Program Guidelines
What Your Society Does
The Society provides reimbursement directly to the lecturer up to $500 per lecture to cover airfare and miscellaneous expenses associated with traveling. Domestic air travel within the Continental United States and Canada consists of travel the day before a meeting and returning the day after the meeting.
What the Chapter/Section Does
The chapter/section requesting the distinguished lecturer (DL) provides full accommodations for the lecturer for a few day(s) and night(s) lodging. Full accommodations consist of lodging, meals, local transportation (rental or personal auto), and miscellaneous expenses (audio visual equipment, photo copying, telephone charges, etc.). The requesting chapter/section is required to coordinate with the speaker directly and obtain mutual agreement for all transportation, accommodations and presentation.
The chapter/section should make preliminary arrangements directly with the DL through introductory correspondence describing the program and dates. The correspondence should ask the DL to return particular information back to the program committee chair regarding program, dates required, etc. to be used in processing a request.
What the Lecturer Does
The Distinguished Lecturer provides all lecture materials (35-mm slides, overhead projector transparencies, etc.). The Lecturer offers his or her services as mutually agreed at a sanctioned IAS meeting lasting up to three hours at no extra cost to the individual IEEE members.
Changes to Format / Itinerary
By mutual agreement between the requesting Chapter and the Lecturer, the transportation, accommodation, and presentation time may be changed to suit the needs of the Chapter(s) and the Lecturer(s). The DL Program Chair and The Chapters & Membership Department Chair must be informed of any changes to the lecturers itinerary.
