DOE Efficiency Standards for Medium Voltage Transformers
Presenters: Eugene Knabe,Regional Sales Manager
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Eugene Knabe is currently Cooper Power Systems Regional Sales Manager for Illinois and Wisconsin. Prior to his current position, Gene was Manager of Application Marketing for Cooper Power Systems Kyle Distribution Switchgear facility where he managed the application support personnel for both pad-mounted and overhead switchgear. Prior to Cooper Power Systems, Gene worked as an Engineering Site Manager for Waukesha Electric System, where he oversaw construction and commissioning of sub-transmission step down substations. Gene has a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin Platteville and a Masters in Business from the University of Wisconsin Ð Milwaukee. Gene has over 18 years of experience in power distribution and system protection
ABOUT THE TOPIC
The presentation will focus
on DOE 2010 Efficiency Standard for MV Distribution Transformers and the Use of FR3 Filled Transformers for INDOOR Applications
The new DOE 2010 distribution transformer efficiency standard which goes into effect January 1, 2010 will be presented and discussed in detail. We will also discuss the NEC related issues differentiating dry type transformers, mineral oil filled transformers and FR3 filled transformers. This will include highlighting how/why the FR3 filled transformers have very significant differences and advantages which result in lower life cycle costs, lower construction costs and possibly even lower initial costs for INDOOR applications.
