Special Session jointly organized by the Industrial Drives Committee and Electric Machines Committee:Automotive Applications Session: This session is dedicated to the Automotive Applications of Drives, Machines, and Power Electronics. The papers of interest for the Automotives Application session are automotive-related work dealing with automotive-specific devices and issues, automotive system issues, or concepts and development of particular interest to the mobility industry. You are cordially invited to submit the results of your research related to the two topics to this prestigious conference. This session will be jointly organized by the Industrial Drives and Electric Machines Committee of the IAS. Paper digests are due January 15, 2007 (http://www.ewh.ieee.org/soc/ias/2007callforpapers.htm). Please submit your digest as indicated on this website, to the Technical Committee Program Chair of the committee of interest to your paper: For the Electric Machines Committee: Prof. Iqbal Husain, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it For the Industrial Drives Committee: Dr. Uday Deshpande Email: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Additional Special Sessions organized by the Electric Machines Committee:Thermal Analysis of Machines and Actuators Session: The special session on Thermal Analysis of Machines and Actuators is seeking papers in the area of thermal modeling and design as it relates to all forms of electrical machines and actuators. Particular emphasis will be put on digests that can serve as an aid to industrial design with special focus on the development of thermal networks and validation of these networks using either test data or CFD. Authors are also encouraged to submit digests on any and all thermal aspect of electrical machinery design and analysis.” Magnetic Materials Session: The Electrical Machines Committee of the IEEE Industry Applications Society will hold the first special session on Magnetic Materials at the 2007 IAS annual meeting. This session has been introduced to reflect the growing needs and interest in establishing procedures for the comprehensive evaluation of magnetic materials properties in electric machinery industry. Topics of interest include but not limited to: - characterization procedures for soft and hard magnetic materials - identifying and implementing loss model validation procedures - factors affecting magnetic materials properties - standards and experimental procedures for magnetic materials Digests should be submitted the Electric Machinery Committee for consideration for this leading industry-focused conference." Optimization of Brushless Machines Session : This session is dedicated to Brushless PM motors optimization design, for either sine or trapezoidal type machines. The topic areas include but are not limited to: the motor optimization methodology, the decision methodology for objective function selection, the decision methodology for selecting constraints , and the decision methodology for selecting between mono or multi-objective optimization methods . Furthermore, digests making the comparison between the several optimization methods like DOE (Design of Experiment), Gradient constrained algorithms (SQP) or others as it applies to Brushless PM motor design optimization are also welcomed . All applications related to optimization process for PM Brushless motors are eligible for this session. You are invited to submit the results of your research related to this topic to this prestigious conference. The session will be organized by the Electric Machines Committee of IAS. Paper digests are due January 15, 2007 (http://www.ewh.ieee.org/soc/ias/2007callforpapers.htm).
