Bruno Lequesne (M'85-SM'89-F'97) the 2007 Gerald Kliman Innovator Award winner was born near Paris, France, in 1956. He received the Certified-Engineer degree from the Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité, France, in 1978, and the PhD degree in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla, USA, in 1984.

 

In June 1984, he joined the Electrical Engineering Department of the General Motors Research Laboratories. In 1999, this group was transferred to Delphi Research Laboratories, the research division of Delphi, a major component supplier to the automotive industry. In September 2006, he moved to the Delphi Powertrain Division to manage a group within the Advanced Powertrain Engineering organization.

 

 

His research interests are in the area of electrical automotive systems, valvetrain systems, injectors, power generators, drive-by-wire systems, sensors, and related issues. He holds 42 patents, primarily on sensors and linear actuators. He is the recipient of ten Best Paper Awards, seven from the IAS, and three from the Society of Automotive Engineers, including the Colwell (2000) and the Bendix (2007) awards. He was elected an IEEE Fellow in 1997.

 

Bruno has been involved with the IAS primarily in the Electrical Machines and Industrial Drives committees, serving as chairman of the former in 2002-2003. He was IAS Treasurer from 2003 to 2006, and now serves as IAS vice-president.
