Student/Postdoc Stipends

Student Travel Awards
-Deadline: extended to October 21, 2002

The 2002 NSS and MIC are pleased to offer several stipends to partially defray travel expenses of students attending the conference. Preference will be given to student authors of papers presented by the student or collaborator. Interested applicants should have their advisor mail an application on school letterhead to the appropriate Program Chair containing the following information:

- your name, the name of your school, and the degree program you are enrolled in (both the subject and the degree being sought)
- the name and number of your abstract (if applicable)
- a description of your role in the project described in the abstract (if applicable)
- a description of your current research (if different from the work in the abstract)

Each applicant will be required to arrange for a letter of recommendation to be sent independently by a senior colleague. All application material must be postmarked on or before October 21, 2002.

Student/Postdoc Short Course Discounts -Deadline: October 21, 2002

This year NSS and MIC are offering discounted short course fees to a select number of students and postdocs to encourage participation by junior scientists. Requests should be sent to Gary Alley at alleygt@ornl.gov. Each applicant will be required to arrange for a letter of recommendation to be sent independently by a senior colleague. All application material must be postmarked on or before October 21, 2002.
