| Next Meeting is Tuesday, January 22, Topic to be Announced |
The tour originally scheduled for the November meeting had to be canceled because of unsafe conditions due to heavy construction. So our next general meeting will be on January 22, 2008 at El Gallo Mexican Restaurant in South Austin. Our social time begins at 6 PM followed by a short business meeting, dinner, a presentation, and a discussion. Students eat free and accompanying spouses pay member rates. Please email our Secretary, Stan Friend, if you plan to attend. His email is stan.friend@us.schneider-electric.com
Information on the topic and speaker will be posted in the meeting announcement as soon as a speaker has been selected. |
| Website Conversion |
In preparation to splitting the Austin and San Antonio PES Websites, the Webmaster will be making some changes to the Website. This will change the address of the Austin Website and there will be times in the next few weeks when parts of the Website may not operate properly. The new URL for the PES Austin Website will be:
PES Austin: http://ewh.ieee.org/soc/pes/centraltexas/austin/
PES San Antonio: http://ewh.ieee.org/soc/pes/centraltexas/sanantonio/
Note that this will not affect our PES chapter membership. All PES members in the Central Texas Section will continue to be members of both the Austin and the San Antonio chapters.
If you have questions, please contact the Webmaster, Don Drumtra.

| Our Thanks to Tommy Darwin, for His Presentation on Ethics |
Many thanks to Tommy Darwin for his exploration of ethics and “being ethical.” In his presentation, Dr. Darwin asked us to engage in conversation with our colleagues and others around us on what is ethical practice and how ethical issues should be resolved. He stressed that often the proper solution is not only based on our profession's ethical standards and our own personal moral values but is often dependent on each specific situation.
Dr. Darwin is a professor and the Director of Professional Development and Community Engagement, Graduate School, University of Texas at Austin. We appreciate him taking time from his teaching and administrative schedules to share his thoughts with us. |
