Holly Power Plant Tour Scheduled for the April Meeting

To attend this follow up plant tour, you must RSVP by April 4, 2008 using the waiver form ( including drivers license number) so that Austin Energy may perform a background check. The completed form must be faxed to 512-972-9534.

This will be one of the few opportunities you will have to walk around a non-operational facility and see what it looks like up close.

Hunt Armistead has been the Holly Plant Engineer for the past 3 1/2 years and worked in Austin Energy's Power Production Engineering Services group for 17 years prior to that.  The presentation will include a quick overview of how a gas fired, steam-turbine generator works, how Holly Plant fit into Austin Energy, a fairly comprehensive walking tour, and an opportunity for questions and answers.

Please bring your hard hat and safety glasses.  Participants must wear closed-toe shoes. Sneakers are fine, but sandals are not allowed.  Participants must wear pants. No skirts or shorts are allowed.  No photos may be taken inside the plant. (Leave cell phones in your vehicle or turn them off before the tour.) Bring your driver’s license or photo ID. You will be asked to identify yourself and sign a tour roster.

Date: Tuesday, April 22, 2008 6:00 P.M.

For more information see announcement.

Analog Newsletter

The electronic Central Texas Section newsletter, The Analog, provides news of many of the other IEEE activities in the Austin and San Antonio areas. If you are an IEEE Central Texas Section member, your subscription is provided automatically to the email address in your IEEE profile. If you are not a member, you may subscribe following the procedures provided at the Analog Webpage.

Be advised that there is not a lot of traffic on this list intentionally.  The list manager tries to keep it below 3 emails a month - The Analog, the mid-month reminder, and maybe an emergency announcement, but we prefer 2 emails a month.
